NEW PROVIDENCE (July 20, 2014) – The thirteen beauties, who will be competing for the titles of Miss World Bahamas & Miss Universe Bahamas, were officially revealed at the Miss Bahamas Launch event on July 20 at the John Watling’s Distillery. A total of six young women will be vying for the title of Miss Universe Bahamas, and seven contestants will be competing for the Miss World  Bahamas crown during the Aug 3 Miss Bahamas pageant double header event.

American actress, singer and philanthropist, Zuri McDaniels, has also been confirmed as the first, in a series of celebrity judges, chosen to select the winners of the the two pageants. McDaniel’s, who is also the wife of Run DMC front man, and rap music pioneer, Darryl McDaniels, has appeared in a number of documentaries and short films, and is no stranger to the Hollywood acting scene.

MISS WORLD BAHAMAS 2014 CONTESTANTS!

The Miss World Bahamas 2014 contestants are (Top Left to Bottom Right) Pylara Russell representing Andros, Cymphony Lockhart representing Bimini, Krishanna Culmer representing Eleuthera, Rosetta Cartwright representing Grand Bahama, Shanae Strachan representing New Providence, Chantel O’Brian representing Ocean Cay, and Rontre Rolle representing Paradise Island.

 

The Miss World Bahamas and Miss Universe Bahamas contestants were chosen via designated district directors, who were responsible for recruiting contestants, on their respective islands.

Each contestant will compete in a number of preliminary events leading up to the Miss Bahamas pageant finales, that will take place on Aug 3, at the Atlantis Resort. Preliminary events, which will take place throughout the months of July, and early Aug, include the Top Model Competition on July 25 followed by the Miss World Bahamas National Dress & Miss Universe Bahamas Costume Competition on July 26, the Miss Bahamas Swimsuit competition on July 27, and the Miss Bahamas Evening Gown & Talent Competitions on Aug 1.
