(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – “I’m proud to be a Bahamian” a melodic sentiment, that permeates all islands of this beautiful achipelago and Eleuthera is no different. Beginning on Wednesday evening, July 9th, the South Eleuthera District held its celebrations on the park at St. Anne’s School in Rock Sound,  Central Eleutherans gathered at Bay Front in Governor’s Harbour and North Eleutherans gathered at the Lower Bogue homecoming site on the beach front  – all in song, dance, music, speeches and prayer before heralding in the 41st anniversary of Bahamian Independence from Britain, with brief fireworks at the stroke of midnight, July 10th, 2014.

Communities such as Hatchet Bay, James Cistern and Spanish Wells as well as others around the Island, planned their own separate celebrations for daylight on Thursday, under the brightest, bluest skies the country has seen in weeks!

Happy Independence Bahamas!
