NASSAU, BAHAMAS (October 15, 2013) – The Sandals Foundation and Coca-Cola present “Vibes On The Island”, an exciting fundraiser in aid of PACE’s (Providing Access to Continued Education) building fund.
On November 2, the party is set to take place on Sandals Island at Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island, and will feature a performance by Grammy-Award winning artist, Shaggy.
All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the PACE Foundation, which provides education and support to teenage mothers, while promoting awareness to help reduce teen pregnancy. Tickets for the event, which starts at 7 pm, cost $175 each and cover all Luxury Included® food and drinks.
“We want our guests to have a fabulous time, and walk away knowing that their donation continues to make a difference in our children’s lives,” said Sonia Brown, president of the PACE Foundation
The ultimate goal of the fundraiser is to ensure that young mothers have access to a support centre that will accommodate administrative, health care, nursery and academic services.
The PACE Foundation runs a programme that provides The Sandals Foundation made a commitment in 2012 to see this through.
“The Sandals Foundation has been a very proud partner of PACE, which continues to make a remarkable impact on the lives of many young girls, changing the outcome for future generations,” said Heidi Clarke, Director of Programmes at the Sandals Foundation. “We support and implement projects that create educational opportunities that are crucial to community development. PACE’s initiatives are definitely in line with what we do.”
The Sandals Foundation, in supporting PACE with its fundraising, established the Buy A Brick Programme in Nassau, where guests at Sandals Royal Bahamian are able to purchase a brick with funds going towards the construction of the new PACE facility.
The PACE Foundation purchased a building on East Street under a mortgage agreement with the Bahamas Development Bank in 2009. Since then, they have been trying to raise $350,000 to renovate the building – they have raised $60,000 thus far.
“This money is being raised by direct appeals to corporate Bahamas and events such as these (Vibes on the Island),” Brown said. “We began working with the Sandals Foundation about two years ago, and they have proven to be a pillar of support.”
