The Bahamas Red Cross will host three events during the weekend of August 29th – August 31st, beginning on Thursday, August 29th with a Stakeholder’s Meeting to be held at 6:30 pm at the Wesley Methodist Church in James’ Cistern.

Since February of 2012, the Bahamas Red Cross has been engaging communities in Central Eleuthera and, “Working with residents to conduct Vulnerability and Capacity (VCA) assessments.”  As a result they have been able to create an inventory of the resources/skills and capacities available within the communities, and say that they continue to work with them to develop solutions to the risks, hazards and concerns that have been identified.

The Stakeholders meeting is being held as part of the Bahamas Red Cross’, “Ongoing efforts to develop resiliency and increased capacity”, in the Central Eleuthera area.

A Shelter Manager Training Workshop will follow on Friday, August 30th at 6:30 pm and will continue on Saturday, August 31st at 9:00 am at St. Gregory’s Parish Centre in Gregory Town. Everyone interested in learning more about sheltering are invited to take part.

An Eleuthera community-wide event/Softball Tournament will begin at noon in James’ Cistern, and organizers at the Bahamas Red Cross are asking every one to come out and, “Bring your teams, bring your families!”
