The Bahamas Telecommunications Company’s (BTC / LIME) services were interrupted on Spanish Wells on Wednesday, leaving many on the island without Phone, Internet and Cellular service. Sources said the disruption occurred after a fibre optics cable was damaged in the Gregory Town Settlement in the vicinity of The Cove. Technicians were throughout the day, on Spanish Wells and in Gregory Town, working to restore the cables in an effort to bring residential and business customers back online.
E-services such as the printing of Driver’s Licenses at the Administration Office were unavailable during the outage which continued late into the day.
It was confirmed that telecommunications services in Harbour Island were also disrupted, and some residents shared that it was a challenge trying to find out why their services had gone down.
