(Grand Bahama, The Bahamas) – A multidisciplinary team is slated to inspect the premises and operations of the Bahamas Oil Refining Company International Limited (“BORCO”) storage facility in Freeport Grand Bahama on Monday, April 15th 2013, according to a release by  Minister of the Environment and Housing, the Hon. Kenred Dorsett.

This action has been taken following what the Minister described as “several oil spill incidents in the Pinder’s Point area involving the BORCO facility.” He further stated that BORCO has been notified and is cooperating with government officials.

“In addition to this inspection process, the technical team will engage in a walkabout of the Pinder’s Point community to speak with residents about their concerns and to gather any information relevant to the team’s investigations,”  the release stated.

The team is comprised of technical personnel from the Ministry of The Environment and Housing, the BEST Commission, the Department of Environmental Health Services, the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the Port Department, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Health
