The front of the 2003 Honda Civic was crushed upon impact with the parked truck.
(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – 30-year-old Mr. Garfield Donald Sands of Rock Sound, became the second traffic fatality for 2013 on the island’s roads, late on Saturday afternoon Feburary 9th, when the sedan he was driving, slammed into the rear of a 1995 Mack 10 truck, crushing the front of his vehicle. Mr. Sands who was driving a 2003 Honda Civic, collided at about 5:30pm with the large truck, which had pulled to the side of the road with a blown tire and a load of sand in Eleuthera Island Shores – between Hatchet Bay and Gregory Town.
The driver of the truck was unharmed in the accident and his vehicle barely showed any evidence of the awful incident. There were no passengers in either of the vehicles involved.
It was the second fatal car accident in Eleuthera for the week with a US visitor, Walter Boname, losing his life in Rainbow Bay – just south of Hatchet Bay on Monday.
On December 3rd, 2012, Mr. Alvin Cash of Lower Bogue, was also killed along Queen’s Highway in Hatchet Bay, in the vicinity of Hearty Mow Farmlands when his car careened off the road.
