A chartered 737 jet landed at the Governor’s Harbour Airport at around midday on Friday, December 14th,  from Canada, carrying 59 visitors, with their final destination being the Coral Sands and Pink Sands resorts on Harbour Island for the weekend. Its unsual for the  bigger jets to be seen taxiing on the runway in Governor’s and even more so, for passengers headed to Harbour Island to set down 50 miles south. According to authorities, the runway at the North Eleuthera Airport was not long enough to accommodate the large jet, hence, the setting down in Governor’s Harbour and then the journey north across the Glass Window bridge and on to Three Island dock for the short ferry ride.

Shortly after landing, passengers were whisked through immigration and customs at the International departures and arrivals terminal before moving on to vehicles waiting outside. One of the littlest passengers whispered to a local bystander, while pointing at a coconut tree just outside the terminal, that it was the first palm tree she had ever seen in person – while hugging on to her teddy and smiling.

The guests flown in were serviced by a ground handling company, which enlisted a number of local taxi drivers to shuttle the passengers from Central Eleuthera to Harbour Island.
