Police and Residents on the island of Eleuthera are searching for a 38 year old man who was reported missing at sea.
According to reports, shortly after 9:00 am on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018, the missing man, a resident Haitian National by the name of Lucson Pierre of Blackwood, North Eleuthera, left Spanish Wells in a 17’ white Carolina skiff with a 50hp outboard engine enroute to neighboring Max Patch Cay, which is about (1.5) miles south-west of Spanish Wells, to deliver feed to the ‘swimming pigs’ there and had not been seen or heard from since.
Shortly after 9:00 am on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018, the boat was recovered washed ashore on Max Patch Cay, after a search in the area by Spanish Wells locals, who suspected the man was lost at sea. The boat he was using was found with his personal belongings as well as the pig food still inside. However, there was no sign of the missing man.
Officers from the Spanish Wells Police Station and residents of Spanish Wells conducted searches of the area throughout the day on Wednesday, with negative results. Police are appealing to boaters in the area of North Eleuthera to be on the lookout for the missing man.
Due to the inclement weather, searches have been suspended until Thursday, May 3rd. Investigations are ongoing.
