Hundreds of Water & Sewerage Corporation’s (WSC) customers, from Gregory Town to Savannah Sound, were again without water on Monday, May 2nd, 2016, as the GE lead repairs at the reverse osmosis plant in central Eleuthera continued.  Some government buildings, including schools let their occupants go home at midday on Monday as the water taps remained dry. Principals at several schools had communicated early on Monday the expectation that water would be back on by midday, but that was not to be.

A statement issued late in the afternoon on Monday said that supplies will be restored late this evening (Monday).

Some pumping from north Eleuthera was also said to have been started on Monday however, this was occurring with limited pressure, meaning that challenges would be experienced in elevated areas. This water from north Eleuthera is also known to have a high salt content.

According to the press release, WSC says that due to the prolonged outage, hundreds of customers, businesses and government entities have experienced loss of supply. After repairs are completed, customers in the affected areas may continue to experience reduced service levels for the next 48 hours, until full restoration of the system.
