(Harbour Island, Bahamas) – Officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, are currently on the ground in Harbour Island in response to a home invasion and stabbing incident which occurred during the early morning hours on Monday, October 5th, 2015.
According to police, 78 year old, Doreen Albury – owner and operator of the well known “Pigly Wigly” grocery store in Harbour – was the victim of this shocking incident. Reportedly, a female relative came to the victim’s home shortly after 7am on Monday, October 5th and after entering her residence found her inside her home, in a semi-conscious state, with injuries to her neck. It was said that medical personnel were contacted, and she was transferred to the local clinic, where the doctor determined that she had two stab wounds to the neck. She was stabilized and airlifted to New Providence for further treatment.
Authorities communicated that the victim’s account of the incident, described a lone male entering her home during the early hours of the morning on Monday, who then began to choke her while demanding money. At this early stage, there are no suspects as yet, according to police, however, teams on the ground in Harbour Island today are actively involved in preliminary investigations.
