The visiting group arrived at the North Eleuthera airport early on Tuesday, beginning their island tour with stops at the Glass Window bridge, The Cove Resort and local pineapple farms in Gregory Town. Plans during the afternoon, included stops at the renown Ocean Hole in Rock Sound and the Cotton Bay Estates & Villas development before flying out of the Rock Sound airport .
Mr. Wilson commented on the visit during an interview with The Eleutheran, saying, “Even though we talk about Cotton Bay in our name, we are very committed to the idea of the development of Eleuthera as a whole… Eleuthera stands its best chance of development as one destination, not multiple destinations. So we made it a point to bring down the Ambassador, and we made sure that it was at a time convenient for China State Construction, and also for the Head of the Export Import Bank of China – to look at Eleuthera as a whole, in terms of what exists and what may be possible.”
When asked what he hoped would come from the visit to Eleuthera, Wilson shared that his hopes were that the Ambassador’s party would come away with an appreciation for the beauty of the island , the warm friendliness of its people, and see it as an island of opportunities. He added, “I really think better days are ahead for Eleuthera.”
Ambassador Yuan Guisen also shared his impression of the island during his visit, saying that he thought Eleuthera was beautiful , with a long history, and very friendly people who he had met along the way. “This time we came along with the China Construction company and the China Export Import Bank, hopefully to find opportunities to work together. “
