(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – During the early afternoon on Tuesday December 9th, 2014 phone lines went dead to some of BTC / LIME / Cable & Wireless customers north of Governor’s Harbour.
[Exactly how many homes/businesses have been affected has not been made public by the company, though officials have said, numbers will be available on Thursday.] Update: The company on Thursday said, the number of people affected was not known.
Brightly colored lines dangling from a severed cable between Lord Byrons and Sky Beach vividly show what the issues are. The overhead lines crossing the road, appear to have been ripped, creating a problem for the telecommunications company, which according to one source, currently has limited resources (staff and equipment) on island to rectify the problem quickly.
No information has been provided on who is responsible for the costly damage.
