(Eleuthera,Bahamas) – On Saturday evening, August 30th, 2014, Gregory Town was the scene of an exciting Back to School Jamboree the first hosted in many years within the community according to Petty GT Seven Eleven proprietor and Gregory Town Warriors basketball team coach, Mr. Sylvanus Petty.
The fun began at 6:30 PM with prizes and surprises, giveaways and gift certificates for Back to School as well as an exhibition basketball game, between the Gregory Town Warriors and the Lower Bogue Tigers. The Tigers came out on top at the end of play with a score of 97 to the Warriors total of 92, claiming bragging rights for the win.
Sponsors, which included EIO Farms, Seven Eleven and Eagle One Processing, made the evening possible through their contributions.
Supportive mothers from the Gregory Town community took up the ice bucket challenge to help increase awareness of ALS (often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease).
Incredibly cold iced water really cooled these Moms down on the warm Saturday evening during the Gregory Town Back To School Jamboree event.
Following the event, organizers went a bit further, and staged an ice bucket challenge to assist with raising awareness for ALS (often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Supportive mothers, players, coaches and community members volunteered to take part in the ice bucket challenge and tons of fun ensued.
Owner of EIO Farms, Edgar Seligman, said that throughout the season he would come to watch the Warriors play and when approached about being a sponsor of the Back-to-School Jamboree event, he jumped at the opportunity to assist.
