Pineapple Air Limited, which currently offers multiple daily flights into Rock Sound, Governor’s Harbour and North Eleuthera, experienced an incident while taxiing into the airport on Saturday morning, July 26th, 2014 during its first morning flight from Nassau into North Eleuthera.
According to officials, the main landing gear, on the plane collapsed shortly after landing, while taxiing on the runway. Island Manager for Eleuthera airports, Anthony Mcphee, confirmed that there were four passengers and 2 crew members on board the flight, with no injuries sustained.
The North Eleuthera airport was closed to traffic for a time on Saturday, until the plane could be removed from the runway. Pineapple Air Limited’s owner, Mike Carey, confirmed that the incident is now under investigation, and that the plane is scheduled to be moved on Monday, July 28th or Tuesday, July 29th, after inspection. Damage to the plane at this time is said to be minimal, before further detailed inspection.
