(Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera, Bahamas)  The Haynes Library started off the New Year with a celebration on Friday, January 3rd of ten fine-art photographic portraits from The Bahamian Collection.

The finished portrait photographs taken during the first year of the Bahamian Project are known as the “Bahamian Collection” and were first exhibited at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, as part of the 40th Anniversary of The Bahamas, from July through October, 2013.

Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera is the first place to which the Bahamian Collection has travelled, and the historic Haynes Library serves as a beautiful venue. The exhibition will be on display until Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014.

The Bahamian Project was created in 2012 by Duke Wells, a native of Detroit, Michigan, and Duke lives with his artist wife Lisa in Nassau. “The Bahamian Collection is a celebration of the good in our society. This Collection has put faces to the spirit that makes us Bahamian – these are but a few of the many Bahamians that reflect that spirit,” said Lisa Wells.

Everyone is encouraged to visit the Haynes Library to see the photographs and students especially are invited.
