(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – In Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, Bahamas on July 19th & 20th, 2013, organisers of the annual Fishermen’s Fest, had to be somewhat surprised by the swell of visitors from the ‘mainland’ that showed up to join in the festivities.
The family fair atmosphere of the days gave way to more adult oriented entertainment in the evenings.
The headline performance on Saturday evening (20th) was given by Bahamian entertainer Geno D, who seems to really connect with Eleuthera crowds across the island. He was most recently in Hatchet Bay on the past August Monday holiday weekend, wooing the crowds there late into the night.
Visitors travelling over from Eleuthera to Spanish Wells after dark, had a 30 minute or longer wait at Gene’s Bay dock before making their way over. On the dock in Spanish Wells, very few options for travel were available and at the gates the entry fee of $15.00 caught some by surprise! On the park however, the food, the steel pan music, bands playing and headline entertainment had feet moving and faces smiling. It was all topped off with a spectacular Spanish Wells fireworks display!
