SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS EXTENDED THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FROM 3:15PM EDT UNTIL 6:15 PM TUESDAY 16TH JULY 2013.

 

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE EXUMAS, LONG ISLAND, THE RAGGED ISLAND CHAIN AND  ADJACENT WATERS.

 

AT 5:00 PM EDT RADAR AND SATELLITE DATA INDICATED   CLUSTERS 0F SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THROUGHOUT THE MENTIONED AREA.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING AND HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL, FLOODING IN LOW-LYING AREAS, AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADO ACTIVITY.

 BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD REMAIN ALERT AND SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS SHOULD TRY TO REMAIN IN DOORS.
