Tennis on the Move in Harbour Island

(Harbour Island, Eleuthera, Bahamas) – On May 25^th the newly found Harbour Island Jr. Tennis committee put on its first in a series of fund raisers. A tennis tournament was held and sponsored by Pink Sands and Coral Sands Hotel. This was an effort to raise funds for its upcoming junior tennis program this summer. The tournament was heavily supported as some thirty-eight tennis enthusiast and friends of tennis took part in men’s doubles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles.

At the end of the day Tim Dames out of Nassau teamed up with Wes Rolle and ran away with the men’s title. According to Wes Rolle, Tim played extremely well and showed signs of his old self when he was ranked #17 in the Bahamas. Kevin Carey and Kevin Cooper were runners up. Laura Dodge and Kathleen Tell took home the ladies title as they defeated Michelle and Katelyn Walker 6-3. Tony Gordon and Richette Percente defeated Tim Dames and Michelle Walker 6-2 to take the mixed doubles title.

The tournament committee would like to thank the owners and management of Pink Sands and Coral Sands Hotels along with the participants for their support in making the tournament a huge success.
