(Eleuthera, Bahamas) Reliable Sources have confirmed with The Eleutheran, that the arrest of a 55 year old male of Florida, USA, a crew member on a vessel docked at Harbour Island was as a result of several weeks of garnering information that led to heightened surveillance by police.

Following up on specific information, the discovery of 6 kilos of a substance suspected to be cocaine was allegedly found in the possession of the American which authorities suspect he may have intended to transship onto the US, where the per kilo price of the illegal drug is much higher.

The American male has been transported to New Providence and a second person who is a resident of Eleuthera is in police custody and is expected to be also transported to New Providence for further investigations in the same matter. The man in custody is a resident of Governor’s Harbour.

ASP Wright, who heads the Harbour Island Police, commented in relation to the matter, that  police will be more visible to the public as they refocus efforts as it relates to drugs on the island.

He expressed thanks to those who came forward with information that assisted in them making the bust.
