Eleuthera, Bahamas, June 12, 2013 – It’s that time of year again… The 2013 Hatchet Bay Festival is getting ready to take over the streets of Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera for a week of celebrating the heritage, culture and spirit of the community this coming August Monday holiday weekend for the festival of all festivals… We Call It Bay Fest Time!

The festival which will celebrate its 24th installment this year, will join in commemorating the 40th anniversary of Bahamian independence and will showcase the talent and culture that is essentially indigenous to the history of Hatchet Bay. This year’s theme, United in Love and Service: Forward, Upward, Onward will focus on the journey that the festival has seen from a group of young Baymen forming the Hatchet Bay Development Association, to the first Bay Festival held in 1990 to a renown festival that brings descendants of Hatchet Bay and fellow Eleutherans from as far north as Canada and south to Florida… not to mention the scores of faithful Baymen and friends of the Bay. It is these ‘Faces of the Bay” who for the past 24 years have continued to make Bayfest the most unforgettable summer experience ever.

Chairman of the Hatchet Bay Festival Committee, Mario Smith said “I continue to be amazed at the rich history which exists in Hatchet Bay and this festival provides us with an opportunity to share that with the world. This year will truly be an exciting one for the festival not only because of the dynamic artists which have been booked but also because of the specific emphasis we’re placing on the history and culture of the community through story telling, “Walking Tours of Hatchet Bay” and other activities planned.”

For Bayfest 2013,  festival-goers and party revelers can look forward to a few familiar faces and well loved Bahamian artists who each year give their best performances that become the talk of the island for weeks. Leading the lineup of the All-Stars set to take the stage this year is none other than Mr. Bayfest, Geno D who continues to provide a stellar performance. Other notable artists include Mr. Rake n’ Scrape Stileet and a surprise house band that we will be introducing to Eleuthera for the very first time. In addition to the evening concerts, Bayfest 2013 will offer a daily fun-filled itinerary of activities, which will appeal to all of those in attendance.

As the weeks unfold and the countdown begins more fantastic acts will be announced. This year is going to be epic and one that will fully encompass what Bay Fest is about; a journey through history, a showcase of musical homegrown talent, a platform for Bahamian artists and a cultural experience like no other.
