(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Mr. Laveaux Bon-ami, who died tragically in a traffic accident in Palmetto Point on April 19th, was laid to rest on Saturday May 4th, 2013 at the public cemetery in  Palmetto Point where he lived with his wife and young children.

Students of Central Eleuthera High School in Grades 8-1A and 10-1A, the classmates of two of his children, joined other family, friends, and members of the wider community who said good-bye to Mr. Bon-ami.

It was a moving service, administered in Creole and English, suitable for a man of Haitian origin who had been resident in Eleuthera for twenty seven years and fluent in both languages. 

He was a skilled carpenter and was remembered by a friend as someone who had a lot of pride in the way he went about his every day life and always wanted to be respected for the quality of his work which, it was said, he was diligent in doing at the best of his ability.

Mr. Bon-Ami died at the age of 48.

According to his Obituary, Laveaux was pre-deceased by his mother, Sara Bon-Ami and his father Napoleon Bon-Ami.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife Suzanne Thelemarque-Bon-Ami; Children: Gaihovannie, Laveaux Jr. and Sarah Jean-Bon-Ami.  Stepdaughter: Chantell; Stepson: Renaud; and several other family, extended family and friends.
