(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – This month, the Wesley Methodist Church in Palmetto Point, Eleuthera, Bahamas has been celebrating its 200th Year anniversary. This historic occasion is being marked with three special events.

Members and visiting brothers and sisters in Christ began on Wednesday, April 17th with an evening service, themed:  A Walk through History – “Our Story”.

During Wednesday evening’s ‘Walk through History’, Reverend William ‘Bill’ Higgs, Minister of the Trinity Methodist Church in Nassau was the special guest speaker.  He narrated much of the church’s two centuries of history, dating back to 1813.

Remarks by host Minister Reverend Kenya Lovell were then followed by the unveiling of the new church ‘Wall of History’, which displays four large plaques with names of past church leaders, including class leaders, preachers, ministry leaders, board leaders and others.

The interior of Wesley Methodist was fully dressed for the anniversary celebration with framed portraits and framed collages of past church leaders, and members.  Also on display were historic church registers and record books dating as far back as 1935 – which displayed information on past members going back several generations.

Celebrations continue on Friday, April 26th with a Youth Explosion at 7pm, and culminate on Sunday, April 28th with an Anniversary service at 3pm – all at the 200 year old Wesley Methodist Church in Palmetto Point.
