(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – The 7th Annual Tim’s Refrigeration and Land Shark Hotel, Eleuthera Doubles Tennis Tournament took place on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 at the Knowles Tennis Courts in Palmetto Point.
Tim Dames, tournament sponsor, expressed how pleased he was to be able to partner with Mr. Artie Johnson, key organizer of the event, to encourage the game of tennis, saying, “I’m loving it, and I’m happy to know that my company with my wife and I can continue to support it [tennis] because this is about giving back. This is our country, it’s a beautiful country and I enjoy it – wherever I can do my part, I’m willing… I’m happy to know that I can make a contribution to the development of tennis in the country.”
The tournament saw increased participation this year said organizer Artie Johnson, with 8 teams in the Men’s open category, 3 teams in the Women’s open category and 2 teams in the Over 60 open category.
All smiles at the end of a challenging, but rewarding tournament, which saw increased participation in both womens`’ and mens’` divisions.
Results at the end of the tournament were as follows:
Men’s Open:
- Wesley Rolle and Austin Burrows – champions in Men’s open category
- Kevin Carey and Kevin Cooper – runners up in Men’s open category
- Tyler Johnson and Horatio Green – consolation winners in Men’s open category
Women’s Open:
- Elizabeth Goodfellow and Carol Prevet – champions in Women’s open category
- Michelle Walker and Kaitlin Walker – runners up in Women’s open category
- Betty Johnson and Alada Jiminez – consolation winners in Women’s open category
Over 60 Open:
- Artie Johnson and Brad Warner – champions in Over 60 open category
- Bert Klein and Dennis Attfield – runners up in over 60 open category
