(Palmetto Point, Eleuthera, Bahamas) – NUA Insurance Agents and Brokers, ‘The hands-on insurance agency’, officially opened its new service centre doors in Eleuthera on Friday, November 16, with a grand opening reception on the grounds of their new offices in Palmetto Point, Eleuthera.  

NUA recently acquired the insurance portfolio of long time Eleutheran insurance guru, Mr. Joshua Culmer, who was a sub-agent of NUA for more than 35 years. 

NUA with its offices, located in a new unit in the same office complex in Palmetto Point, Central Eleuthera, which Joshua Culmer and his professional and dedicated staff have operated from for many years, pledge that customers will continue to be served by the same professionals they have grown to trust over those years.

Mr. Culmer, who now moves into semi-retirement, will continue to contribute to the new branch by being involved in the development of new business, while perhaps having a bit more time to enjoy another favourite pastime – officiating visitor weddings.  

The grand opening event,  saw top management from both NUA and its parent company, Bahamas First Holdings Limited, on island to celebrate with Mr. Culmer and his family on the occasion of  his 74th birthday – making the festivities even more meaningful and heartfelt.

During the reception, remarks were given by Mr. Warren Rolle, President & Managing Director, of NUA, who took the opportunity to individually thank different members of Mr. Culmer’s family who had supported his success over the years, both directly and indirectly.

Mr. Ian Fair, Chairman of Bahamas First Holdings Limited also addressed the reception, expressing his company’s pleasure in their expansion, saying, “We at Bahamas First Limited, the parent company of NUA, are pleased to expand our footprint in the Eleuthera community by the establishment of this branch of NUA – through the acquisition of Josh Culmer’s portfolio.”

Fair continued, lauding Mr. Culmer’s track record, “Josh Culmer has been a leading producer in NUA’s distribution channel, which encompasses New Providence and a number of the family islands.  We cannot say enough about the deep gratitude and respect we have for the dedicated, unrelenting and professional service he has exuded over the years.  He is a true professional and a trusted and respected man, and that’s something to say after that many years of life.  We are very thankful for the reputation he has established within the Eleuthera community which we are confident will bode well for NUA in the years to come… We will endeavour to provide the same level of professional service your clients have come to expect.”

Mr. Patrick Ward, Group President and CEO of Bahamas First Holdings Limited, brought further remarks, reflecting on his long relationship with Mr. Culmer, and the high regard he held for his  business legacy in Eleuthera.

Ms. Jenny Mae Gaitor, longstanding employee with Mr. Culmer, presented him with a special plaque of appreciation from the NUA/Bahamas First group, just before he took to the podium.  He personally recognized and thanked his staff members individually, while reflecting on their years working together.  Mr. Culmer also recognized and expressed thanks to his family members, friends and colleagues present who had impacted his business and his personal life.  In closing he emphasized his continued dedication to new business for the branch, saying, “As long as I am here and the good Lord gives me health and strength, I will do my part to build up Bahamas First and NUA”.
