The scent of fire is still emanating this early morning from one of the giant trees near to Haynes Library in Govenor’s Harbour that was the scene of a fire on Monday night. According to information reaching our desks, a concerned witness reported that one of the historic trees at the Haynes library was on fire internally. As a result, police along with volunteer fire fighters Ricardo Pinder and Shannon moss visited scene and attempted to extinguish the smouldering tree, however the flames that were burning internally reached the top of the 40ft tree. The crew, as a result, requested further assistance from Mr. Juan Gardiner of BEC with his bucket truck and with his assistance the flames were extinguished. At this time we are not aware of the cause of the fire.
