BahamasCoatofArmsOn Saturday, September 14th, 2019, the Department of Rehabilitative Welfare Services announced that the displaced persons registration desk at Odyssey Aviation would be closed as of that date.  Displaced people who had not yet registered were now advised to do so at the Department of Rehabilitative Welfare Services on University Boulevard in New Providence.  See detailed announcement below:

“The Department of Rehabilitative Welfare Services announced today that the displaced persons registration desk at Odyssey Aviation is now closed.

The registration desk was spearheaded by a collective group of private citizens, partners and NGOs in collaboration with the Department of Social Services. It was staffed by more than 50 trained volunteers working on shifts.

Collectively they registered approximately 6,854 people arriving to Nassau by air from Abaco and Grand Bahama between September 5 – September 13. This process was used to track the movement of displaced people from the affected areas and helps to provide accurate numbers on hurricane survivors.

NEMA thanks all the volunteers for their hard work and dedication to helping others.

Displaced persons who have not registered are advised to register at the Department of Rehabilitative Welfare Services on University Boulevard. The Department is open from 9AM-5PM, Monday to Saturday. Please call 524-0834/35 or 323-1877 for more information.”
