…HUMBERTO IS FORECAST TO BECOME A HURRICANE BY SUNDAY NIGHT AS IT MOVES AWAY FROM THE BAHAMAS…
ALL TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS FOR THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS ARE DISCONTINUED.
AT 5 PM EDT, THE CENTER OF HUMBERTO WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 27.4° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 77.3° WEST OR ABOUT 70 MILES NORTH OF COOPER’S TOWN, ABACO; OR ABOUT 175 MILES NORTH OF NEW PROVIDENCE. HUMBERTO IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST AT 7 MPH. THIS GENERAL MOTION WITH A GRADUAL TURN TO THE NORTH IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO. A SHARP TURN TO THE NORTHEAST IS EXPECTED ON MONDAY. ON THE FORECAST TRACK, THE CENTER OF HUMBERTO SHOULD CONTINUE TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS TONIGHT.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. GRADUAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST AND HUMBERTO IS EXPECTED TO BECOME A HURRICANE BY SUNDAY NIGHT OR EARLY MONDAY.
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 140 MILES TO THE NORTH AND EAST OF THE CENTER.
RESIDENTS IN ABACO AND GRAND BAHAMA WILL EXPERIENCE SOME SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH TONIGHT AS HUMBERTO MOVES AWAY.
