Police are investigating a plane crash that has left two persons missing, on Thursday, 8th November, 2018.

Reports are that shortly after 8:00pm, Police on New Providence, received reports from Air Traffic Control that a plane had disappeared from the radar in the area of Nirvana Beach and was believed to have crashed in waters nearby, a short time after the Pilot had reported that the door to the aircraft had flown open.  Further reports are that the aircraft, a PA-27 six seater, registration #N8383C, left Lantana Airport, West Palm Beach, Florida, with two persons on board.

Search and Rescue teams from Nassau Airport Development Company, Bahamas Airport Authority, the Royal Bahamas Police Force Fire Services, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Harbour Patrol Unit, the United States Coast Guard, and BASRA were dispatched to the north shore of New Providence in search of the light aircraft.   The Aztec aircraft was later spotted by Defence Force patrol crews shortly after 10:00 p.m., just before sinking in waters half-mile offshore.

Defence Force patrol craft are continuing their search for missing persons.  Defence Force military divers were deployed early on Friday morning, November 9th, to search the sunken aircraft.
