Goombay Summer Festival activities took place in Harbour Island on Friday, July 27th, and Saturday, July 28th, 2018, during the heart of what vendors and hoteliers in The Eleutheras are saying has been a very vibrant summer season to date. Tourism Manager for Harbour Island, Mrs. June Dean, extended a special welcome to people enjoying a getaway to the island during the weekend event. On Friday evening, with rain threatening, the entertainment got started early with the Goombay Dancers, and a mini-modeling session. These were followed by fire dancing, and DJ Fadda Chippy kept feet moving, as people enjoyed the festivities.
Saturday evening saw a delayed start with heavy rains for nearly two hours, said June Dean, from about 7:30pm, finally easing up around 9:30pm, which affected the size of the Saturday night crowd this year, but the show went on. The local ‘One, Two, Three Band’ from Harbour Island took to the stage, with talented lead singer, Jeremiah Sweeting. Then onlookers were treated to a show by Bahamian entertainer, Fanshawn Taylor – whose incredible vocals kept the audience fully engaged.
