The Bahamas Department of Labour is preparing to launch an upgrade to its local Skills Bank portal. The software was first introduced in 2006, however an update and re-launch of this integral tool in the Department’s recruitment process is underway. The upgrade is a component of the Ministry of National Security’s “Citizen Security and Justice” Initiative facilitated by a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
As a result, the Department of Labour’s Public Employment Services teams from all islands will be trained on the upgraded PCRecruiter system. To facilitate this training, the Department wishes to announce the following temporary sub-office closures throughout the country.
Temporary suspension of operations will take place on the following dates at the following Department of Labour sub-offices:
Monday, 17 – Wednesday, 19 July, 2017 – (New Providence) Robinson Road and Carmichael Road sub-offices will have temporary suspension of services. Normal operations will resume at these locations at 9:00am on Thursday 20, July 2017.
Monday, 17 – Thursday, 20 July, 2017 – Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera and North Eleuthera Offices will also have temporary suspension of services. Normal operations will resume at these locations at 9:00am on Friday, 21 July 2017.
All services offered to the public at the Robinson and Carmichael Road Sub-Offices will be available at the Department’s Headquarters located in the City Corporate Centre, Rosetta Street, New Providence.
Mrs. Patrenda D. Russell-Brice, Deputy Director of Labour stated that, “it’s been a long time coming and I am pleased about the upcoming training and launch of the upgraded PCRecruiter system. It is a necessary tool for job seekers as well as employers who seek to fill vacancies with suitable Bahamians, and we want to ensure that our Public Employment Services employees are trained and able to continue to capably serve the general public using this system.”
