WARNINGS:
A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the Central & Southeast Bahamas as well as the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Severe Weather Risk: There is a slight to moderate risk of isolated strong to severe thunderstorms expected across the Northern Bahamas. The public should monitor for the issuance of any watches or warnings from The Bahamas Department of Meteorology, and boaters should prepare to seek safe harbour once conditions worsen.
Rip Currents: There is a slight to moderate risk of rip currents affecting the eastern and southern shorelines of the Southeast Bahamas. Beachgoers and swimmers are advised to exercise caution when entering the water.
GENERAL SITUATION:
Gentle to fresh easterly winds will continue to support moderate seas across Atlantic and exposed eastern waters, while sheltered banks remain slight, due to the influence of strengthening high pressure throughout the period. Showery and unsettled conditions will persist through the first half of the day, mainly across the Northern Bahamas, due to the interaction of a tropical wave south of Cuba with a broad upper-level disturbance, with gradual improvement as weather shifts out of the area by late tonight.
OUTLOOK:
Expect the current sea state to persist, as the surface ridge maintains its wind regime over area waters. Passing showers with thunderstorms will continue through the weekend across the Bahamas, with additional activity anticipated for the northern territorial waters by Saturday, as a frontal boundary sinks southward towards the area.
NORTHERN BAHAMAS (INCLUDING GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, BIMINI & ADJACENT WATERS):
ADVISORY: No marine advisories. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
WINDS: East-southeast to south-southeast at 10 to 15 knots, falling light and variable at times today, turning east to southeast at 10 to 15 knots tonight.
LOCAL SEAS: 2 feet or less in sheltered nearshore and offshore waters, including the Gulf Stream. 2 to 3 feet in Atlantic waters.
GULF STREAM: Winds: Southwest at 5 knots, becoming South at 5 to 10 knots in the afternoon. Seas: 2 feet or less. Intra-coastal waters: A light chop.
SWELLS: Slight easterly swells in Atlantic waters.
WEATHER: 30 – 50% chance of showers with thunderstorms today, decreasing 10 – 30% by nightfall.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK:
Eastern Tropical Atlantic (AL96): An area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave, located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, has a high, or 70 percent chance of development within the next 48 hours, as well as through the next seven days. A tropical depression may form by the end of the week as AL96 moves westwards across the tropical Atlantic.
