(Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Literacy Week at the Samuel Guy Pinder All Age School (SGPAAS) began on Monday, February 13th, with ‘Show and Tell’ from grades one through six. Principal Chardel Brown-Gibson explained the benefits of this fun, and exciting activity, saying, “It helps with their speaking skills. They had to introduce themselves, and brought something that was special and important to them. We had live dogs and turtles, someone brought a snakeskin, an animated dinosaur, books, and all sort of things they liked and enjoyed.” Inter-house competitions also took place throughout the week, between the “Turtles”, “Swordfish” and “Stingrays”. On Tuesday an inter-house spelling bee was held, for grades one through six (pri-mary) and grades seven through nine (junior high). Wes Underwood from grade two won the primary division (his second year in a row winning), and Connor Pinder from grade seven won the junior high division.
