(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – According to the Manager of Water and Sewerage in Eleuthera, Anthony Bostwick, as of Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 “the RO plant in Central Eleuthera is 100% restored.”
Distribution has commenced and the timing for normal pressure along the 50 mile distribution route will depend on location, elevation and private filling of tanks causing excessive use.
Water supplies in Central Eleuthera were initially interrupted on Sunday, July 31, 2016, when the Corporation’s 8” transmission main which serves the Gregory Town and Hatchet Bay area was damaged by a third party. This was repaired the same day and re-pressurization would have normally occurred over the following 24 hours. Unfortunately, however, the next day (August 1, 2016), a catastrophic failure occurred at the Naval Base desalination Plant, resulting in the protracted interruption of water services in Central Eleuthera until today.
