The dew filled, fresh, early morning air of the Governor’s Harbour township welcomed participants in the 2015 annual Fun Run/Walk held by the Cancer Society of The Bahamas, Eleuthera Branch. The society headed by Jacquie Gibson in Eleuthera, continues to attempt to reach out to Eleutherans as it aims to assist with the education of the general public and to provide assistance to survivors of Breast Cancer as well as others.

On island on Saturday October 31st, participating in the walk which began at 6am in front of First Caribbean Bank in Governor’s Harbour, and ended at the Society’s Wellness Center in Palmetto Point, were Mr. Ivoine Ingraham and Dr. Elizabeth Darville of the  Fourth Terrace Diagnostic Center in New Providence. The pair are supporters of the local organization who have pledged to attempt to assist with getting more Eleutherans inspired to participate in this very worthy event via national radio on their program called Fourth Terrace Talks (airs on Tuesdays at 7:30pm on ZNS 1540).

For those who turned out to participate, it was an approximately 5 mile walk over rolling hills, through the morning mist just before the sunrise.  After the walk, there was a gathering at the Wellness Center to recognise supporters of the Cancer Society such as Dr. Darville and Mr. Ingraham, Evangelist Rev. Shirley Bethel, Mr. & Mrs. Allie Archer, One Eleuthera and others. Medals were given out to the top performers in several age defined categories and participants had an opportunity to further support the local Cancer Society by purchasing delicious souse variations, and to mingle.
