The Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) would like to inform the public that they are cautiously watching Tropical Storm Erika and are preparing for her impact on The Bahamas. While the latest public advisory shows a shift further west, a weakening and even a possible dissipation, BEC is affirming that they will remain vigilant and will continue preparing for the storm. “Even without direct impact from the storm we expect the system to bring with it heavy rain and wind gusts that could impact BEC’s operations,” says Arnette Ingraham, Corporate Communications Manager.

For the information of BEC customers, they have established a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/BECTROPICALSTORMERICKAUPDATES, that will provide timely information with regard to the storm’s impact on our systems in New Providence and the Family Islands.

The page, open to the public, will provide information on outages, status of the restoration efforts in New Providence and The Family Island, and any other important information that needs to be shared.
