(Eleuthera, Bahamas) Andre Butler of Governor’s Harbour who headed up the Eleuthera Basketball Association (EBA) as President since 1993 has now passed on the baton of leadership.  On Tuesday night, August 25th, 2015, the EBA held elections of new officers, which took place at 7pm at the Governor’s Harbour primary school.

 Sherwin Major, a Physical Education teacher with the Central Eleuthera High School, was voted in as the new President of the EBA.  His new team included, long serving basketball coach, Andrew Johnson of Harbour Island as Vice President.  William Higgs of Harbour Island, also a long serving official will now serve as Commissioner.  After 22 years of heading up the EBA, Andre Butler will continue to be involved as Public Relations and Duty Commissioner, and Deon Johnson of Governor’s Harbour, with the Department of Labour will serve as EBA Treasurer.

 Andre commented that there are still several positions left open with the EBA, and that volunteers are most welcomed to offer their assistance.  The positions currently open include, Secretary; Assistant Secretary, and Assistant Treasurer.  The EBA’s next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th in Hatchet Bay at the P.A. Gibson primary school at 6:30 pm.
