DR. THE HONOURABLE HUBERT A. MINNIS, PRIME MINISTER

Nassau, The Bahamas:  The Cabinet Office informs the general public that the Prime Minister, Dr. The Honourable Hubert A. Minnis’ surgery yesterday, 3rd January, 2018, at the Princess Margaret Hospital was successful.  The Prime Minister thanks Dr. Jeffrey Sweeting who removed a cataract from his eye as well as the anesthetist, Dr. Mark Weech for their professional care and attention.  The Prime Minister tolerated the procedure well and was sent home 2 hours later to convalesce and follow the doctor’s orders.

The Prime Minister’s post operation visit today, 4 January, was also successful and he has been cleared to return to work on Monday, 8 January, 2018.

The Cabinet Officer conveys the Prime Minister’s thanks for the many well wishers and for the outpouring of love and prayer for his safe surgery and speedy recovery.

The Cabinet Office released a statement on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018, informing the general public about the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr. Hubert A. Minnis, being scheduled for minor surgery on Wednesday, January 3rd, resulting in the appointment of the Honourable K. Peter Turnquest, Deputy Prime Minister, as Acting Prime Minister for three days, beginning Wednesday, January 3rd until Friday, January 5th, 2018.

PRIME MINISTER’S SURGERY

(Nassau, The Bahamas):  The Cabinet Office informs for general information that the Prime Minister, the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr. Hubert A. Minnis, will undergo minor surgery locally on Wednesday 3rd January, 2018 at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

The Honourable K. Peter Turnquest, Deputy Prime Minister, will be Acting Prime Minister during the  period from Wednesday 3rd until Friday 5th January, 2018.
